Our school board member Mr. Robert Philpot came and read to us.

We also voted for our favorite book!

We also did A LOT of extra reading and writing!

We then had Valentine's Day! Here are some pictures from the dance.

And this week we had Jump Rope for Heart!

Last the kids are very excited about our new friend that has joined our class post Christmas!

Update

I have not been keeping my blog updated like I should, and I am so sorry!  I WILL get better!  This post is mostly pictures of what we have been doing in class!

The students were practicing main idea, character, setting, and events!

The students filled up their brownie points (the get one when they get a compliment from someone outside of our class) so they got brownies for a treat one day!

This is from our pumpkin investigation/character dress up day! Kids had such a great time!

First Week is Complete!

Happy Saturday!

We have successfully completed our first week of school!  It has been a great week, I have learned so much about my students already and look forward to learning more each week. The students have adapted to first grade well.  Wednesday we started "Read to Self" this is something that we will be doing daily, our goal is 20 minutes of uninterrupted time of reading.  The students made it to two and a half minutes on Friday and I was SO HAPPY!  We will continue to build our stamina until we make it to 20 minutes.  The students seem very excited about it, if you care to look into it, the book is called "The Daily 5".
This is the students around the room "Reading to Self"

I have also set up a reminder text, when you subscribe to these text, I will let you know of important things going on in our class!  I know we have very hectic lives, our phones help us keep everything organized!  This app is one more way to keep things organized, if you want to subscribe, and get texts about what is going on in our class follow the directions in the photo below.  I have also sent this home in their folders, please feel free to share this with family members or friends that may be involved with your child and would want to know what's going on in our classroom!

Have a happy and safe weekend!  I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday!

Welcome Back

Welcome Back!!!

Dear Families,

Welcome to Ms. Fugate’s Class!  I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer, I have, but I am ready to dive into this school year.  This is my second year teaching and I could not be more excited.  To give you a little back ground on myself, I was born and raised in Williston, after graduating high school, I moved to Gainesville to attend Santa Fe College.  I received my Associates of Art in Education, then went on to finish my schooling at Saint Leo University where I received my Bachelors’ degree in Elementary Education.  During my schooling I did two out of four internships here at Joyce Bullock.  My first year teaching was a success!  I have learned more than I ever expected!  I cannot wait for the upcoming school year to see what it has in store for myself and your child!  Enough about me, I am very excited about the 2013-2014 school year and am looking forward to meeting you and your child.   I look forward to meeting you and your child in the near future; I know this will be an awesome year for all of us!  Below are important dates and the first grade school supply list!

Sincerely,

Ms. Fugate
